High-throughput measurement of behavior and cardiac activity of Xenopus tadpoles.
Presenter: Kay Eckelt, The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC)
Schedule: Thursday 28 August, Kleine Veerzaal, 10:20-10:40
Xenopus tadpoles are an emerging model organism for genetic, developmental and behavioral studies. We describe a platform to quantify the animals locomotor movements, the buccal pumping rates and cardiac activity. In addition we present quantifications of the effects of many test compounds. This platform is a simple, cost-effective in vivo assay system for genetic, pharmacological and toxicological characterizations.
