PhenoRat Satellite Event on Behavioral Phenotyping

On Tuesday 26 August afternoon, PhenoRat*, an EU-funded research project, organizes a satellite event on behavioural phenotyping. Several invited speakers will provide an overview of the state of the art research in this field and shed their light on expected challenges that lie ahead of us. 

Behavioural phenotyping: methods, techniques and tools (max 50 participants) 

13:30 - 14:00: Dr. J.Homberg: Translational phenotyping: the case of the serotonin transporter knockout rat

14:00 - 14:30: Dr. O. Stiedl: Home cage-based long-term monitoring of fear in mice: the facts, the possibilities and the limits 

14:30 - 15:00: Dr. H. Pothuizen: Concepts and problems, past and future of behavioural phenotyping: reliability, reproducibility and possible solutions

15:00 - 16:00: Prof. I. Golani: Using a phenomenological approach in the phenotyping of rodent behavior

The event is organized by Noldus Information Technology and Delta Phenomics BV as partners in the PhenoRat-project, and is open to all participants of the MB conference. *PhenoRat is an international and inter-sectoral PhD programme for highly motivated young scientists, where state-of-the-art research is combined with a comprehensive training programme. PhenoRat aims to generate, characterise and validate transgenic ratmodels of neurodegenerative diseases with a special focus on (automated) behavioral paradigms and new tools for analysis and statistics to generate validated read-outs and enable behavioural monitoring and classification of disease-symptoms.
